The Regional Digitisation Project (2019 - 2023) was a digitisation initiative which provided regional organisations with facilitated on-site training and digitisation assistance, delivered by AMaGA Victoria through Victorian Collections and made possible by the support of Creative Victoria.

The Project achieved a number of outstanding outcomes during its four-years, standing resilient in the face of project impacts from the COVID-19 pandemic to provide support to 40 regional organisations and facilitate the digitisation of 5226 collection items across the state.

Participants in the Program were required to:

  • be a small to medium-sized collecting organisation*, and
  • be in a regional area of Victoria (i.e., 1+ hours from Melbourne),
  • have 4+ volunteers or staff willing to participate in training,
  • have an accessible onsite collection, and
  • have space for a temporary photography studio

*Please note that State-funded galleries and ex-service organisations were not eligible to apply.

Regionally based Digitisation Officers also offered regular digitisation and collection management workshops in regional locations through the program for non-enrolled organisations.
